About TruSelf Empowerment Program

What is TruSelf Empowerment?

Program Created by
Gina Slager

TruSelf Empowerment is a deeply interactive program for small groups of young girls, ages 10-13. This program recognizes the importance of planting seeds of empowerment at an early age to help diffuse many of the challenging issues they will be faced with during their upcoming teen years and beyond.

Through thoughtful and interactive practices such as yoga/movement, respectful listening and interactive talks, journaling, and creative expression, each girl is gifted a foundation to love, honor, and respect themselves. Set in a safe, nurturing environment, TruSelf Empowerment also aims to provide an opportunity for open dialogue on topics that may not be discussed in school or at home; important topics for every girl’s evolution and building of self-worth.

Why Should Girls Participate?

7 in 10 girls believe that they are not good enough or don’t measure up in some way, including their looks, performance in school and relationships with friends and family members.

Self-worth is the foundation that children need to thrive in life. While parents play an invaluable role, it can be beneficial for girls to hear a different voice from a mentor/teacher. The program also provides an outlet to openly discuss common issues with peers who are experiencing the same things. It gives them a safe environment to ask questions, address feelings and gain the knowledge they might not otherwise find at home or school.

Module Topics

Examples of some of the topics covered are outlined below, these may change depending upon the needs of the individual group of girls in that session. The topics are presented in a light and positive manner; we are here to plant the seeds and let them grow with experience
